What We're Doing
Recycle your undies.
Did you know that you can’t recycle underwear? It’s not accepted by donation centers and sadly languishes in landfill. So, we decided to take action and in 2018, we launched Lingeriecycle®, a Hanky Panky program to recycle bras and panties. We partner with Green Tree, a non-profit organization dedicated to stopping all unwanted post-consumer textile material from entering landfills. Garments are shredded to create fibers for industrial insulation (metal and plastic components are separated for recycling.)
Waste reduction.
Along with our Lingeriecycle® program, we also send the textile waste from our manufacturing process to Green Tree to be recycled into insulation. We recycle where we can and we also design thoughtfully to efficiently maximize fabric usage and minimize waste.
Our customers have planted thousands of trees with One Tree Planted.
This environmental non-profit tree-planting charity plants trees in countries around the world. Select One Tree Planted at checkout and we will donate 1% of your order to them at no additional cost to you.
Our material certifications.
We use responsibly-grown Supima® cotton fibers in our lingerie and sleepwear. These Southwest USA-grown cotton fibers are produced under the CottonLEADS℠ sustainability initiative and have a smaller environmental impact than many imported cottons. All our cotton knit fabrics are knitted, dyed and finished on the east coast, using low-impact, non-toxic fiber reactive dyes. Our Signature Lace is knitted, dyed, and finished in the USA with low impact dyes. Our heather jersey, TENCEL™ and viscose rayon fabrics are created with responsibly-managed renewable wood sources (FSC® and PEFC®). We offer fabrics that are made with Oeko-Tex® 100 Certified yarns that are free of harmful substances. We are committed to never using flocked fabrics, which are prone to shedding fibers. Nor do we use fur, feathers, wool, or leather in any of our designs.
Our packaging goals.
From our famous rolled thongs, conceived to reduce wasteful packaging materials, to joining prAna’s Responsible Packaging Movement, we make decisions through an environmental lens. We have committed to:
-
Using Emerald™tree-free paper (made from agricultural waste) or FSC paper for boxes
- Adopting fully sustainable or recycled pulp sources for hangtags
- Transitioning to biodegradable hang tag attachments
- Phasing out metallic foil printing on product packaging
- See our commitment with Canopy Pack4Good here.
Our recycled packaging in partnership with ECOENCLOSE has saved 68,916 gallons of water, 115 trees, and 64,421lbs of Co2 equivalent.
